You use an activator for the left or right side, then you press the appropriate face or d-pad button to use whatever action is placed there. The idea of the cross hotbar is rather simple. Can help prepare for raid mechanics that rely on certain % of health. How do I use the cross hotbar? Activating a side of the cross hotbar Helps you keep track of boss health (or ally health if you’re healing).
Targets > Display target’s remaining HP percentage - I think this is a normal feature in most other MMORPGs and for some reason it is not a default setting in FFXIV. Personally, I keep my settings to display mine only because I don’t have enough HUD space to see 30+ debuff icons. However, almost every class has debuffs/DoTs so the icon display can become overwhelming VERY quickly depending on your HUD layout. If you need to see what other people are casting so you don’t double up on debuffs (like Virus), this is useful to keep disable so you can see everyone’s debuffs and DoTs. Targets > Display only detrimental effects you inflict - This is a double-edged sword. This removes your quest list and only displays the dungeon objectives. Hide Duty List During Instanced Duty - I have this enabled because it can become a bit much when you’re in a dungeon with objectives listed and also have all of your personal quests displayed. Removal of Inventory Grid - I have no use for this, so I removed it from my HUD so I have less clutter. Most of these are optional and just user preference. If you feel confident that you know your character and your path, you can disable these to remove the annoying notifications every time you log-in or zone. Recommendations & Playguide - This is for new players or people that have a hard time remembering where to go next in their storyline or progression. These options will allow you to skip all previously seen cutscenes and make for a quicker trip to that dungeon! If you have already completed them, there is no reason to continuously go back and watch the cutscenes. Cutscene Skipping - a LOT of FFXIV is doing dungeons. Legacy Type Movement - helps with controlling your character and allowing easier movement during boss fights. Magic classes function off MP and their TP pool is rarely touched. One thing to note - Sprint should be used sparingly during Duties, Dungeons, and Raids if you are a non-magic class. The macros are listed above, but in case you can’t see them. R3 is setup to target Focus Target, that way if I need to switch often (healing, boss focus, etc.), this will allow me to do that.
I have 元 set to use the Sprint ability, so I can use it without taking up one of my main keys. These are interchangeable, however I found these were a great improvement to quality of life because it allows me to add two custom commands. R3 - Execute Macro #98 - Set to Focus Target Macro 元 - Execute Macro #99 - Set to Sprint Macro
The most important points I need to make for this are.
